Performance & Flow Management
See the flow. Measure the gap. Prove the gain. Process mining and performance management in one: live process maps from your production events, ISO 22400 KPIs and scorecards, benchmarking across sites, and governed actions until each improvement is proven.
The challenge
Manufacturers generate more production data than ever, yet the critical questions stay unanswered: how does work actually flow through the plant, where do orders wait, loop back or deviate from the approved routing, and which site, line or machine is underperforming? Dashboards show outcomes but hide causes, while manual process audits are slow, subjective and out of date the moment they are finished.
Overview
Performance & Flow Management (PFM) unites process mining with enterprise performance management on the Ignition platform. It reconstructs every production case from event data, discovers the process map as it really runs, and pinpoints bottlenecks, rework loops and deviations automatically. ISO 22400-aligned KPIs, weighted scorecards and internal benchmarking turn raw signals into a single performance language across every site, in discrete, process and batch manufacturing. PFM installs directly on your existing Ignition gateways, with no separate server or external process-mining platform: standalone at one site, or across many sites with a global instance for enterprise roll-ups.
Events come from our applications (OEE, QMS, Order & WIP Management, SPC, EMS and Electronic Batch Records, with maintenance data through EAI), from read-only queries over Ignition data sources, from CSV and XES event logs and from UNS streams. An Activity Catalog maps each source's labels to a governed activity dictionary, and every event log is scored for completeness, timestamp order and unmapped events. Discovery runs on demand or on a schedule, so process maps, variants, bottlenecks and mined KPIs stay current without manual effort.
Governance turns visibility into accountability. Deviation rules continuously evaluate KPIs, conformance, handoff waits and rework, raising alerts with severity, SLA clocks and escalation; alerts notify the right people through MNS and create tasks in TMS. Performance actions are tracked from finding to resolution, then measured against the KPI they were meant to improve. Electronic signatures, a sign-off log and a full audit trail support 21 CFR Part 11 and EU GMP Annex 11 practices. Across the enterprise, each site synchronises with a global instance over the Ignition Gateway Network: scorecards roll up, league tables rank every site, and scheduled reports, up to a one-page executive summary, are generated and emailed automatically.
Capabilities
What PFM does
Process Discovery
- Automatic process discovery from event logs, with directly-follows graph and heuristic miner algorithms
- Process map with frequency and performance overlays
- Variant ranking and happy-path identification
- Case Explorer with an event timeline replay for each case
- Scheduled re-mining, with up to 200,000 cases per run
KPIs, Targets & Scorecards
- 17 KPIs referenced to ISO 22400 out of the box, collected and process-mined, in one catalog
- Targets, stretch goals and red, amber and green thresholds for each node of the plant hierarchy
- Weighted scorecards with composite scoring from machine to enterprise level
- Scorecard Cockpit with trends, gaps and peer ranking
Flow Analytics
- Bottleneck ranking by handoff waits and service times
- Rework and loop detection tied to cases and variants
- Throughput-time distribution and flow efficiency
- Resource handoff matrix across teams and work centres
Benchmarking & Comparison
- League tables ranking sites, lines and machines for each KPI
- Percentiles, gap to target, gap to best and performance bands
- External industry reference values for each KPI
- Side-by-side comparison of sites, periods or variants
Conformance & Reference Models
- Versioned reference routings, published with electronic signatures
- Conformance checking with fitness and precision scores
- Skipped, inserted, out-of-order and unauthorised steps classified
- Immutable baselined runs for audit-proof change control
Governance & Actions
- Deviation rules for KPIs, conformance, waits and rework
- SLA-tracked alerts with escalation and acknowledgement, notified through MNS
- Performance actions with TMS task integration and measured effectiveness
- Signature-controlled overrides, a sign-off log and a full audit trail
- Role-based views for operators, supervisors, engineers and executives, with seven permission tiers and several languages
Benefits
Why manufacturers choose PFM
The process as it runs
An objective, data-driven view of how work really flows, with no interviews or manual mapping.
Effort where it pays
Bottlenecks and rework located by case evidence, so improvement effort goes where it pays back.
One performance language
The same KPIs, targets and scorecards across all sites.
Deviations acted on
Deviations caught and actioned under SLA, not discovered in month-end reviews.
Improvement proven
Every action measured for its effect on the KPI it targets.
Audit-ready records
Signed and audit-trailed records for regulated environments.
PFM shows us where production really slows down, where rework tends to happen and which improvements actually deliver results.
Ask PFM in plain language
LS Assistant, the AI assistant in every Logical Systems application, answers questions from your live PFM records and shows the sources behind every answer. It keeps learning as your records, work instructions and resolved issues grow, and your data is never used to train AI models.
Answers with sources
Every answer cites the records and work instructions it used.
Your role, your site
It sees only what each user is allowed to see.
Asks before it acts
Every change it proposes needs a person's confirmation and is audited.
